NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test)

NEET, where NEET full form is National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the only national-level entrance examination for admission into undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BVSc, and BPT in India. NEET is one of the most competitive and prestigious entrance exams for aspirants from the science (PCB) stream.

Eligiblity

If candidates want to appear for the NEET exam after completing Class 12, they must fulfill the eligibility criteria laid out by the NTA.

Candidates must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. They should have secured at least 50% marks (for general category) in PCB subjects combined, from a recognized board.

Structure of NEET Exam

The NEET exam is a single-level national entrance test conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) for admission into MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Veterinary, and other medical courses across India.

The exam is conducted once a year (usually in May).

It consists of 200 questions (180 to be answered) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

The paper is objective (MCQ-based) with negative marking.

After completing graduation, students can opt for postgraduate specializations (MD/MS) through NEET-PG.
