ABOUT

IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Exam)

IIT-JEE, where JEE stands for Joint Entrance Examination, is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for JEE Main and by the IITs for JEE Advanced. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive engineering entrance exams in India. Students who qualify can get admission to top engineering institutes like the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded colleges.

Eligiblity

If candidates want to appear for the IIT-JEE exam after completing Class 12, they must fulfill the eligibility criteria for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

For JEE Main: Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). There is no minimum percentage required, but they must have passed from a recognized board.

For JEE Advanced: Only the top 2.5 lakh scorers of JEE Main are eligible to apply. The candidate must have at least 75% marks in Class 12 (or be in the top 20 percentile) for IIT admissions (as per current criteria).

In short, JEE Main is the first step, and JEE Advanced is for those aiming to enter IITs.

Some other important engineering entrance exams apart from JEE are BITSAT, VITEEE, and SRMJEEE.

FAQ

Career in IIT-JEE

Engineers: Engineering is a highly respected and rewarding profession that offers opportunities in various fields such as technology, software, mechanical design, electronics, civil construction, and more. Students who clear IIT-JEE can pursue B.Tech or B.E. courses from top institutes like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other engineering colleges.

1.) Software Engineers: Experts in coding, app/web development, and software solutions in companies like Google, Microsoft, and startups.

Mechanical Engineers: Work on machines, tools, and industrial processes in core manufacturing sectors.

Civil Engineers: Handle planning, designing, and constructing buildings, roads, bridges, and infrastructure.

Electrical & Electronics Engineers: Specialize in circuits, automation, robotics, and power systems.

Data Scientists / AI Engineers: A growing field that uses math, coding, and analytics to solve real-world problems.

Entrepreneurs: Many IIT graduates build startups and tech companies with global impact.

Structure of JEE Exam

The IIT-JEE exam is divided into two stages:

JEE Main: Conducted by NTA, it is the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced and also for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other institutions.

JEE Advanced: Conducted by one of the IITs, it is the entrance test for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Subjects include Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in both exams.

JEE Main is held twice a year (January and April), while JEE Advanced is held once (usually in May or June).

Duration of JEE Course

The preparation is typically divided into three major programs:

Foundation Programme: Starts from Class 9 or 10 for early concept building.

Two-Year Programme: Begins from Class 11, the most common and recommended route.

One-Year Programme: For students in Class 12 or those repeating after 12th.
